ADRIAN — The Adrian Maples community gathered Thursday to remember the life of one of its senior students who died this week from injuries he suffered after being struck by a vehicle.

A candlelight vigil was held for Jacob Guzman, 18, who died Monday at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, his obituary said. He was struck by a vehicle Thursday night while walking home from work.

This emblem has been shared on social media by the Adrian Maples community in honor of Jacob Guzman, 18, a senior at Adrian High School who died Monday after being struck by a vehicle last week. Guzman's number while involved in athletics at Adrian High School was 73.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Anderson Marry Funeral Home, 3050 W. Beecher St., Adrian, and a second remembrance for Guzman will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Maple Stadium. The lights on the football field will be lit in honor of Guzman.

Because of Guzman’s accident and because several football team members are in quarantine due to a positive COVID-19 test, Adrian canceled its first football game of the season Friday against crosstown rival Madison.
