A Leicestershire family has raised £1,100 for a Shepshed education charity by launching a crowdfunding page.
Ayad and Myriam Al-Rawi’s daughter, Lina, has attended Steps Conductive Education Centre since the age of three and benefited from weekly sessions.
After seeing the impact that the centre had on their family, Ayad and Myriam decided to use the social crowdfunding platform HeroCrowd to raise funds.
As part of the initiative, Ayad created a video about Lina and their experiences at Steps.
Ayad said: “Steps is very dear to our hearts. Lina was diagnosed with a genetic disorder from birth. Steps were excellent with us and really helped us out.
“They have done a fantastic job over the years, with free lessons for children on a weekly basis and lots of advice and guidance for parents.”
Indila Simandi, Lead Conductor at Steps, thanked everyone involved in Lina’s fundraising campaign.
Indila said: “Thank you so much again. Your kind donation will help many families benefit from the service.”
Steps said they do not receive any statutory funding and must raise £220,000 each year through grants, fundraising and donations, which have been significantly impacted by the pandemic.
